A native of Chuckatuck, she was the widow of John Solomon Vaughan and a daughter of James and Mrs. Nellie Gwinn Nelms. She was a member of Main Street Methodist Church, Suffolk. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. R.A Daughtery of Myrtle and Mrs. C.E. Graham of Portsmouth; two sons, Marion F. Vaughan of Portsmouth and J. Shelton Vaughan of Windsor and Suffolk; a sister, Mrs. E.C. Horton of Portsmouth; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A funeral service was conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in Hill Funeral Home, Suffolk, by the Rev. John Teter and the Rev. Otis Gilliam. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Effie Lee (NELMS; Mrs. John S.)
