VELLINES, 54, OF I-WIGHT COUNTY BURIED SUNDAY Richard E. Vellines, 54, died December 9. at 5:10 o'clock a.m. at his home near Smithfield. He was the son of the late William J. and Maggie Cutchins Vellines. He was a member of Whitehead's Grove Baptist Church, of which he served as deacon for 11 years. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Sarah W. Vellines; two sons, Clarence and J.W. Vellines; one daughter, Mrs. Virginia Payne; three grandchildren; three brothers, J.S. Vellines, of Suffolk; F.L. Vellines of Richmond and Joseph L. Vellines of Miami, Fla.; an aunt Mrs. Jim Price, of Isle of Wight County, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Whitehead's Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. J.A. Cales and the Rev. L.F. Paulette. Burial was at the Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Chuckatuck. Roberts & Johnson Funeral Home was in charge.
