WHITE Emmitt Clyde White, 74, a resident of 3030 Old Norfolk Rd., died at 8:30 a.m. today (Monday) in a Portsmouth hospital. A native of Gates County, N.C., he was a son of the late James Edward and Mrs. Sally Ward White of Gates County. He was a member of Eureka Baptist Church, Corapeake, N.C. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Joe Crum of Portsmouth and Mrs. Herbert Earl Carter Jr., with whom he made his home; five sons, Clyde Emmitt White of Portsmouth, David Lee White of Buffalo, N.Y., Hallit Ward White, Irving Julian White and James Ray White, all of Suffolk; three sisters, Mrs. Nannie Harrell, Mrs. Lillian Holland, both of Portsmouth, and Mrs. Louise Piland of Richmond; three brothers, Jack White of Portsmouth, Willie White of Norfolk, and Norfleet White of Corapeake; 17 grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in I.O. Hill & Company Funeral Home by the Rev. William B. Denston. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Herbert Earl Carter Jr., 3030 Old Norfolk Rd.
