WHITE Suffolk, Sept. 22. - Mrs. Sallie Alford White, daughter of Mrs. Susan C. Alford and the late Francis Marion Alford, died today at noon, at her home on Bank street. She is survived by her mother, three brothers Francis Forrest Alford, of Cleveland, Ohio; Preston Wadsworth* Alford and Clinton Benjamin Alford, of Suffolk; one sister, Miss Agnes H. Alford, of Suffolk, and several nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the residence by Rev. F.B. MacSparren, D.D., assisted by the Rev. W.W. Staley, D.D. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dr. O.R. Yates, Clyde Dillard, M.A. Elliott, Lewis G. Brothers, H.M. Butler, Dr. L.C. Holland, Henry S. Eley and A.D. Bowen; honorary, W.W. Ballard, Lee Britt, Dr. H.W. Campbell, R.C Barrett, W.J. Richards, C.C. Thompson, W.R. Frazier, W.M. Eley, Moses Joyner, W.E. Brothers, Judge James L. They m. 22 Feb 1905 in Elizabeth City, Pasquotank Co., NC, and div. between 1910 & 1920. Her father was a Confederate veteran, having served as a private in Co. B, 19th Battalion VA Heavy Artillery, and later as a clerk in the Richmond Commissary.
