Harrell Funeral Home, Suffolk, by the Rev. Joseph Lang. Burial will be in Western Branch Baptist Church Cemetery with Masonic rites. Whitehead died Tuesday in his home. A native of Southampton County, he was the husband of Virginia Roberts Whitehead. He was the son of William Henry Whitehead and Mrs. Flora Yates Whitehead Scott. He was a retired crane operator of A. Stewart Bolling Co. Whitehead was a member of Western Branch Baptist Church and its Men's Bible Class, Purdie Masonic Lodge 170 of Windsor and an honorary member of the Manry Hunt Club of Courtland. Other survivors include two sons, William H. Whitehead and Robert M. Whitehead of Windsor; three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Futrell of Capron, Mrs. Gennie Lee Grissom, Mrs. Mildred S. Ward of Courtland, three brothers, William O. Scott of Portsmouth, Ralph T. Scott of Wakefield, and Henry O. Scott of Courtland; and five grandchildren.
