All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ MARMADUKE EPPES WOODWARD SUFFOLK, MAY 4 - Marmaduke Eppes Woodward, 60, son of the late Hersey and Augusta Eppes Woodward of Suffolk, died at 7:30 a.m. today at the Obici Memorial Hospital. He had been ill for several weeks. He was educated in the Suffolk schools and at Elon College and later studied voice in New York City. For a number of years he was a tenor soloist at the Presbyterian church in Wilmington, N.C., and later was a member of the choir of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Suffolk. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of St. Paul's Church and of the Sons of the American Revolution. He was much interested in and was a collector of antiques. He was a member of the staff at several antique shops in Suffolk and was called on for expert advice by people in Suffolk and this section in selecting them. Surviving are one sister, Miss Marie Woodward of Suffolk; four brothers, Hersey Woodward, Jr. and Richard L. Woodward, III, of Suffolk; James S. Woodward of Phoebus and Thomas L. Woodward of Suffolk, a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Rev. John A. Winslow, rector, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
