A native of Sussex County, he was an Isle of Wight County resident most of his life. He was a machinist for the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co. for 35 years. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Levell Harris Wellons; one brother, Arthur Wellons of Spring Grove; and one nephew. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, by the Rev. Harry Christie, pastor of the Bethany Presbyterian Church, Zuni. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk. The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of contributions to the building fund of Bethany Presbyterian Church. ****************************************************************************** ERNEST LEE WELLONS ZUNI - A funeral service for Ernest Lee Wellons is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday in Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield, by the Rev. Harry Christie of Bethany Presbyterian Church, Zuni. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk. Pallbearers will be John Hall Jr., J.R. Bowden, H.W. Bowden, T.M. Carr Jr., William Uzzle [sic; Uzzell], J. Louis Umphlette, Earl Strictland and C.N. Johnson. Wellons, 63, died Tuesday at work at Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Co. after a brief illness. A native of Sussex County, he was the husband of Mrs. Lenell Harris Wellons and a son of Joseph and Mrs. Anna Wellons. He was a machinist at the shipyard 35 years and lived in Isle of Wight County. Besides his widow, surviving is a brother, Arthur Wellons of Spring Grove.
