He had been active in the insurance business a number of years. He was a son of the late Lewis Raiford and Mrs. Vira Crumpler Williams [sic*], of Sampson County, N.C. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Sally Mary Williams, of Nansemond County; two sons, C.P. Williams, of Duplin County, N.C., and John Dee Williams, Jr., of Nansemond County; five sisters, Mrs. S.J. Andrews, of Roseboro, N.C.; Mrs. W.J. Hubbard, of Stedman, N.C.; Mrs. Alex Peterson, of Vero Beach, Fla.; Mrs. William A. Pollock and Mrs. Bonnie Pollock, both of Fayetteville, N.C., and three grandchildren. The body was removed to the I.O. Hill and Company Funeral Home. Arrangements will be announced later. ****************************************************************************** Funeral Sunday For J. D. Williams Funeral services for John Dee Williams, Sr., a resident of Route 1, Nansemond County, who died yesterday afternoon at the Louise Obici Memorial Hospital after an illness of three weeks, will be held Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Bethlehem Christian Church with the Rev. R.E. Brittle conducting the services. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. He was the son of the late Lewis Raiford and Vira Crumpler Williams of Sampson County, North Carolina. Other than his wife, Mrs. Sally Mary Williams of Nansemond County, he is survived by two sons, C.P. Williams, of Duplin County, North Carolina, and John Dee Williams, Jr., of Nansemond County; five sisters, Mrs. S.J. Andrews, of Roseboro, N.C., Mrs. W.J. Hubbard, of Stedman, N.C., Mrs. Alec Peterson of Vero Beach, Florida, Mrs. William A. Pollock and Mrs. Bonnie Pollack, both of Fayetteville, N.C.; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 3:45 p.m. Sunday.
