WILROY, JR. - Prominent Trucker Dies at Sanatorium After Long Illness Suffolk, Va., - June 3. - Abram E. Wilroy, Jr., one of the most prominent and well known truckers of this section and son of the late A.E. Wilroy of Wilroy’s, near Suffolk, died yesterday morning at Blue Ridge Sanatorium after a lingering illness, aged 55 years. Mr. Wilroy left here several months ago in the hope of restoring his failing health, but became worse gradually until the end came. He was a member of the Driver Lodge of Odd Fellows. Until his health failed he was active in the management of his large farming interests in Nansemond County and was one of the largest and most prosperous truckers in this section. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lena Becker Wilroy; one son, Rex; one daughter, Miss Hilda Wilroy; his mother, Mrs. A.E. Wilroy, Sr.; one brother, James Wilroy of Nansemond County; six sisters, Mrs. H.B. Simmons of Suffolk, Mrs. L.H. Simpson of Norfolk, Mrs. C.L. Brock and Mrs. W.H. Sammons of Newport News, Mrs. S.T. Kittrell of Myrtle, Va., and Miss Josephine Wilroy of Wilroys, Va., and a number of nieces and nephews. The body will arrive home this afternoon on the Norfolk & Western train and will be carried to the family residence at Wilroys. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 4 o’clock at the grave in Cedar Hill Cemetery and will be conducted by Rev. W.V. Savage of the Churchland Baptist Church.
