Wright Funeral services for George Lemuel Wright, 76, a resident of Magnolia, who died last night at the United States Naval Hospital in Portsmouth after a long illness, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 5 o’clock at the Hill Funeral Home. The Rev. R.E. Brittle and the Rev. John Kibler will officiate. Burial take place in Cedar Hill Cemetery. He was a son of the late Frank and Frances Mumford [sic; Munford*] Wright of Nansemond County. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ida Corbitt Wright; five daughters, Mrs. Daniel Brinkley and Mrs. Lee Brinkley, both of Cypress Chapel, Mrs. Edgar Owens of Magnolia, Mrs. Clyde L. Wise of Washington, D.C. and Mrs. Marion Jones of Norfolk; two sons, Major H.L. Wright, Station Hospital, Fort Benning, Georgia, and G.W. Wright, Washington, D. C.; 15 grandchildren. He was a member of the Bethlehem Christian Church. The body was taken to the I.O. Hill Funeral Home to be prepared for burial. ****************************************************************************** Rites Held For George L. Wright Funeral services for George Lemuel Wright, a resident of Magnolia who died Wednesday night at the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, were held Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. R.E. Brittle and the Rev. John L. Kibler, Jr., officiating. Mrs. T.A. Poole, Mrs. Dudley Joyner, Paul Parker and the Rev. Brittle, accompanied by Mrs. Julian Goodwin, sang "In the Sweet, Bye and Bye" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Paul Parker sang "Sunrise" as a solo. The Rev. Brittle read the poems "The Christian's Goodnight'' and "Crossing the Bar." The pall was of pink and white carnations, white gladioli and Easter lilies. Active pallbearers were J.L. Babb, Frank Culpepper, Sr., H.H. Williams, D.T. Gardner, C.W. King, G.W. Byrum, W.C. Morgan and Willie Oliver. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Wesley Bible Class of the Magnolia Methodist Church. Interment followed in Cedar Hill Cemetery. D.Cert. 25959 (Suffolk #139) gives daughter of Dempsey Mumford & Lucy A. Stivenson [sic; STEPHENSON]. Her maiden name was then spelled MOUNTFORD.
