WRIGHT Rites at Hill Chapel 4:30 Thursday, Blackwell to Officiate Mrs. William Thomas Wright, age 66, died at a local hospital last night at 11:50 o'clock after an illness of two weeks. Mrs. Wright was a daughter of the late Jordan E. and Mrs. Esther [sic; Hester] Johnson, and widow of the late W.T. Wright. She is survived by three children: two daughters, Mrs. F. Bruce Eberwine, of Bennett's Creek, and Miss Esther Wright of Suffolk, and a son, William Jordan Wright, Panama City, Panama Canal Zone; two grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was an active member of Oxford M.E. church and its Auxiliary and took part in many of the church activities. The body was removed to the funeral home of I.O. Hill and Co., where funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. H. Conrad Blackwell, the Rev. J.S. Johnston and the Rev. O.M. Clark. Burial will be in Cedar Hill cemetery. ****************************************************************************** WRIGHT FUNERAL HELD HILL CHAPEL Conducted 4:30 Thurday Interment Made In Cedar Hill Cemetery Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Bessie Johnson Wright, widow of William Thomas Wright, were conducted Thursday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at the Funeral Home of I.O. Hill and Company, by the Rev H. Conrad Blackwell, the Rev. J.S. Johnston and the Rev. O.M. Clarke. A quartette consisting of Mrs. H.B. Crocker, Miss Edythe Ballard, J.C. West and J.C. Harry sang, "Abide with Me," with Mrs. Gilmore Ware as accompanist. The casket was covered with a pall of calla lilies and red roses. Active pall bearers were Caleb Everett, Perry Turner, Charlie Johnson, Rochelle Gardner, L.W. Jones, N.T. Gray, Presley Smith, R.A. Wright, Charlie Jordan, and John Henry Powell. Honorary pall bearers were members of the Woman's Auxiliary of Oxford M.E. Church and friends of the family. Burial was Cedar Hill cemetery. Ida Bessie (JOHNSON; Mrs. William T.) Birthplace &c. from D.Cert. 8531 (Suffolk #99), which gives both of her parents as b. in Southampton Co. However, we show her mother as b. 15 Sep 1836 in Hertford Co., NC, the daughter of Caswell Cobb & Martha (BRETT) FERGUSON. Her great-uncle Fenton FERGUSON (1848 - 1918) developed the first successful peanut picker. (Thomas C. Parramore.
