Ward Buried Yesterday Funeral services for Fernando A. Ward, who died early Saturday morning at his home after a long illness, were conducted yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. J. Lester Lane and the Rev. Work officiated. The church choir sang "O Master Let Me Walk With Thee" and "My Jesus As Thy Wilt." The Rev. Work sang as a solo, "Lead Kindly Light." The pall was of bronze chrysamthemums, Talisman roses, stephanotis and orchids. Pallbearers were Landes Small, L.J. Jernigan, R.D. Bell, C.E. Duck, D.F. Boone, G.B. Stott, Ray V. Knight, R.R. Harrell, W.T. Kirchmier, and J.R. Vann. Honorary bearers were deacons of the First Baptist Church, members of the Goodwin Bible Class, Lions Club, Hiram Lodge, 340, A.F. and A.M., the Nansemond Medical Society and friends. Burial took place in Cedar Hill Cemetery with Masonic rites conducted at the grave by the Hiram Lodge. (Find a Grave Mem. #73118874 &c.) His first wife, Mary Mozelle (JONES) WARD (1880 - 1919), is buried in Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond. (Find a Grave Mem. #60053458) His 2m.rec. gives b. Gates Co., NC. (Ancestry.com VA Select Marriages) D.Cert. 22381 (Suffolk #306) gives b. Gliden, NC, which is in Perquimans Co., just below Gates Co.
