All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Mrs. Zaglares Succumbs Here Mrs. Ruby Allison Zaglares, age 57, daughter of the late W.H. and Julia Humphries Cabaniss, died at her home 112 Pender Street, at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday afternoon after an illness of several months. She is survived by one daughter, Miss Estelle Allison; four sons, James, Roy, and Walter Allison, all of Suffolk, and Raymond Allison of Warwick; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Wilson of Suffolk, and Mrs. George Mizelle of Marion; two brothers, Roy C. Cabaniss and Thomas G. Cabaniss, both of this city; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Zaglares was a member of the West End Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 3:30 in the afternoon at the R.W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home by Rev. Julian H. Pentecost, pastor of the West End Baptist Church and Rev. R.E. Brittle. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Church Cemetery. D, 55th NC Infantry. His CSR states he enlisted as 1SGT 26 Mar 1862, in Cleveland Co., NC, and was captured as a 3LT at Gettysburg. His gravestone shows 2LT. He & his wife "Mattie" Martha J. (CARROLL) CABANISS (1841 - 1914) are buried in Sunset Cemetery, Shelby, Cleveland Co., NC. Her mother, Julia Alice (HUMPHRIES) CABANISS (1869 - 1931), was buried in Gatesville, Gates Co., NC.
