Fruits of Franklin Dispensary Law - Courtland Wants to Run Out Saloons - Majority Like Franklin's Law - Fifteen Brides Maids at a Wedding. (Special to Virginian-Pilot.) Suffolk, Va., July 12. - [...] FIFTEEN BRIDESMAIDS. A pretty home marriage was celebrated last night in Nansemond county. The participants were Miss Lucile Norfleet and Mr. Jesse W. Holland. The ceremony was performed at the home of the bride's father, Mr. W.H. Norfleet, five miles from the town of Holland, by Rev. N.G. Newman, of Franklin. The parlors were tastefully decorated with flowers. The bride and all her fifteen bridesmaids wore white organdie. Miss Tillie Holland, a sister of the groom, was maid of honor, and Robert Norfleet, the bride's brother, was best man. The other attendants were: Miss Eva Etheredge with Ludie Hare; Miss Maud Norfleet with Harry Holland; Miss Mary Everett with Moses Joyner; Miss Lydia Norfleet with Jos. E. Holland; Miss Selina Pierce with Ben W. Council; Miss Lydia Norfleet with L.J. Daughtrey; Miss Maggie Holland with Vernon Rawles; Miss Ethleen Hoggard with Bruce Pierce; Miss Lizzie Hare with William Woodward; Miss Inez Pierce with Ed. Howell; Miss Beulah Holland with Linwood Rawles; Miss Lillie Holland with Clifton King; Miss Ruth Brinkley with Walter Norfleet; Miss Myrtle Rawles with Wilson Holland. At 9 o'clock there was a large reception in Holland, where Mr. and Mrs. Holland will reside. Mr. Holland is a merchant. M.Reg. 1900 #137 Jesse, b. 26 Aug 1871, Nansemond Co., d. 10 Mar 1909, at home, Holland, interred in Holland Cemetery. His donated obit is also posted with Find a Grave Memorial #92279339: Suffolk, Va., March 10. - Jesse W. Holland died this afternoon at his home, in Holland, Va., aged 38 years. Until recently he was proprietor of the Holland Shoe and Clothing Company's store, which he sold because of failing health. His widow, parents, three children, three sisters and a brother survive him. Jesse's father Hardy HOLLAND, Sr. (1836 - 1909) was a Confederate veteran, having served as a private in Co. K, 41st VA Infantry. Lucile 2m. widower Robert Henry JOHNSTON, 6 Jul 1926, in Nansemond Co. She is buried with Jesse in Holland Cemetery; Robert is also buried there, with his first wife, as are Jesse's & Lucile's parents.
