ABSTRACT OF WILL OF ROBERT CARR - Nansemond County - 1st May 1773 - Location of original unknown son Joshua - all lands on SS of Nottoway River in Nansemond except pine wood land but he to allow his mother free use and liberty of the one half together with plantation I now live during her widowhood.  Also the still and 1/3 part of liquor made giving his mother the rest.  Also two cows and calves, one feather bed, 1 iron pot, one pan, one pewter dish and basin, 6 plates, one negro boy called Harry after his mothers death. wife Mary - rest of negroes - Sam, Pompy, Kate, Rose, Venus:  all household furniture except what I have given my children except she has use for widowhood or life for taking care of all my daughters during the time they remain single daughters Elizabeth - various household items, negro Jenny, and cows; Mary various household items, cows, 50 lbs cash when she reaches l8 or a negro girl worth 50 lbs;  Martha - various household items, cows, negro boy Jim; Lydia  various household items, cows, Negro boy Abraham son Titus - 5 lbs cash son Matthew - plantation whereon he now dwells together with one half of my land that lies in Hertford Co, N.C. which is SS water hole branch to head of northeast prong to a pine, then to fork in road one going to Hill's bridge and one to Washington's and Brown's; also a fishing place on Meherrin River  indicates Robert had already given him other things son Robert - plantation he now dwells and all the other part of land in Hertford Co plus some particulars already given to him pine wood bought of Col Jesse Brown to be sold and the money divided between sons Titus, Robert, and Matthew.  Two son Titus and Joshua to be Exec.
