Margaret L. Matthews being of sound mind doth make this as my last will and testament, revoking any and all wills heretofore made by me, to wit: 1st. After my just debts are paid, I give to my son R.E. Matthews the sum of one dollar as his portion of my estate to him & his heirs forever. 2nd. I give to my son, J.B. Mathews, the sum of one dollar as his portion of my estate to him & his heirs forever. 3rd. I give to my daughter Dianna [sic; Nannie] Lee Lancaster the sum of one hundred dollars to her & her heirs forever as her portion of my estate. 4. I give to my daughter Margaret Catherine Underwood, the sum of One hundred dollars to her & her heirs forever as her portion of my estate. I give to my son, William Joseph Mathews the balance of my estate to him & his heirs forever. 6. I hereby appoint my son William Joseph Mathews as the executor of this my last will & testament and doth request the Honorable Court that no security be exacted from him for the performance of this trust. Virginia: In the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court of Nansemond County on Friday the 15th day of February, 1907. The last will and testament of Margaret L. Matthews, late of this County, deceased, was this day produced before the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Nansemond County and proved according to law by the oaths of George W. Butts and Mills Rogers, the two subscribing witnesses thereto, and is ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of William Joseph Matthews, who is name[d] in said last will and testament as the Executor of the estate of said Margaret L. Matthews, deceased, who made oath according to law, entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of Twenty-two hundred and fifty dollars, conditioned according to law (but without security, the said last will and testament directing that no security be required of him) certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate of said last will and testament in due form.
