Cemetery Location:  .1 mile west of Shipman, Virginia on Route #56; thence 
                    southeast 1 mile on private road across Southern Railway.  
                    House on east side of railroad and graveyard 25 yards in 
                    front of house.
                    Nelson County, Virginia

OWNERS:

William Tompkins and his descendants.

DESCRIPTION:

The graveyard is located 25 yards in front of the mansion house surrounded by a 
high stone wall.  There are several graves but all of them are unmarked with the 
exception of one.

HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE:

Born in Fluvanna County, Va.
Nov. 8, 1805
Died in Nelson County, Va.
Feb. 28, 1862
