Thacker Cemetery Location: 2.5 miles northwest of Norwood, Virginia, near the home of George W. Cabell, on Route #655. Nelson County, Virginia DATE: Around 1862 OWNERS: George W. Cabell. DESCRIPTION: (blank) HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: There is no marker to the grave of Joseph Laidley who was born in Belfast, Ireland October 15, 1839, married to Sarah Syms Cabell, June 2, 1859, was a chemist, and was blown up and killed in Richmond, Virginia, while engaged in making powder for the C.S.A. about 1861 or 1862. Mary Anne Cabell Oct. 3, 1808 April 29, 1868 Geo. W. Cabell July 12, 1802 Oct. 2, 1869 Marble shaft inscribed 3 sides, about 8 feet high. Patrick H. Cabell Oct. 17, 1839 April 16, 1807 Bettie W. Cabell Nov. 27, 1843 June 10, 1907 They were lovely and pleasant in their lives and in their death they were not divided. Patrick H. Cabell was educated at Emory & Henry College, at beginning of Civil War, he was professor of Greek in Lynchburg Military College, entered the C.S.A., as a private in the Lynchburg Home Guard. Dr. Willis Eubank Died April 12, 1918 Aged 70 years This man was a cadet at V.I.T. in Lexington, Virginia, and was engaged in the battle at New Market when the Cadets had to be pressed into service.
