Thacker Cemetery Location: .5 mile north of Arrington, Virginia on the farm of Mr. George Hable; take Massie’s Mill road to Arrington, go west .5 mile turn northeast on farm road, go .25 mile to home of Mr. Hable. Nelson County, Virginia DATE: About 1847. OWNERS: (blank) DESCRIPTION: Burial ground enclosed with a very heavy rock wall, about 3 feet high and between 1 and 1.5 feet thick. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Marble slab inscribed: William Diggs born Feb. 15, 1772 died Nov. 8, 1849 I have been informed that his full name was William H. Diggs, he was commissioned Sheriff of Nelson County, Va., and served the office the years of 1817 * 1818, and was again elected to the same office in March 1843 and served until November 25, 1845. He was the son of Capt. John Diggs, who fought in the Revolution and was a descendant of Governor Diggs who was a colonial Governor in the 16th century. A descendant of William H. Diggs is Mr. Harris Heart who was at one time Supt. of Public Instruction of Virginia. Marble slab inscribed: William S.
