Harrower Cemetery Location: 150 yards west of the Courthouse square, on private road, in Lovingston, Virginia Nelson County, Virginia DATE: About 1817. OWNERS: James Garland and Sarah, prior to 1817. James P. Garland, August 12, 1817, D.B. 2, page 625 Robert C. Cutler and Mary, Aug. 25, 1835, D.B. 8, page 206 Austin G. Pamplin, Apr. 4, 1863, D.B. 16, page 181 Near 7 acres, $2700.00 There is no record when Peoples obtained it, Mrs. Peoples was the daughter of Mr. Pamplin and she inherited. DESCRIPTION: On a sloping hill to the south of the house is the old Burial ground. The Peoples and Pamplin graveyard is enclosed with a nice wire fence and is well kept. There are flowers and boxwood here and three and a few small shade trees. Outside of this enclosure is another large graveyard, covered with honeysuckle and briars, and several large trees. There are approximately 12 or 15 graves and a few stones of rough rock, but no inscription on them. No one seems to know who is buried here, probably the Cutler’s or some of the first inhabitants of Lovingston, Virginia. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: On small marble stones are the following inscription: (Masonic Emblem over top of name) A. G. Pamplin Died April 3, 1886 Martha Pamplin died July 31, 1877 (Masonic emblem over name) Julian A. Peoples Died Oct. 6, 1909 Mary E.
