Harrower Cemetery Location: 7.8 miles from Shipman, Va. From Shipman go 4 miles east on Route #66; thence northeast (left) 2 miles on Route #722; thence west (left) 1.3 miles on Route #605; thence northeast (right) .5 mile on private road through woods. Graveyard is on east (right) side of private road near site of home. Nelson County, Virginia DATE: 1844. OWNERS: Drury Shepherd and his descendants. DESCRIPTION: A large frame house was erected on this farm of nine hundred acres in 1832. It was situated on a hill above Beaver Creek, near Manasco Mountain. It burned many years ago, together with the slave cabins and outhouses around the mansion. The old chimneys, still standing, are all that is left. The family burying round was in a grove of trees a short distance east of the house. It is so overgrown with bushes, briars and honeysuckle that it is difficult to get in to read the inscriptions. There is a heavy iron fence around the graves.
