Harrower Cemetery Location: 5.5 miles east of Shipman, Va., on Route #56; thence north on Route #646, 3.25 miles; thence west .5 mile up private mountain road. Nelson County, Virginia DATE: 1787. OWNERS: Jeanett Johnson James Pamplin Miss Rosa West & sisters. DESCRIPTION: The graveyard is on top of a high hill above the house, in a grove of large oak trees. The large, tall tombstones are of gray rock, chiseled by hand and are said to have been shipped here from Scotland. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Here lies the body of General Johnson Died Sept. 26, 1787 Aged 47 years (figures denoting year badly worn, very indestinct. There is a foot stone marked G.J.) Here lies the body of John Robertson Born in Scotland, Feb. 6, 1769 Died May the 17th, 1818 aged 58 yrs. 3 mos.
