Harrower Cemetery Location: 6 miles east of Shipman, Va. From Shipman go 5 miles east on Route #56 to Hebron Church and take private road through peach orchard and woods for 1 mile. Site on west (right) side of road. Nelson County, Virginia DATE: Unknown. Wilder 1911, D.B. 36, page 276 Red Apple Orchard Corp. 1911, D.B. 36, page 536 Present Owner (1937) DESCRIPTION: This was a large frame building situated in a grove of oak trees. It was the ancestral home of the Anderson and Perkins families. It was destroyed by fire more than fifty years ago. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: T.B.M. Perkins was born here. He was an officer in the Confederate Army during the War Between the States, and was Commonwealth’s Attorney of Nelson County for a number of years. Just below the site of the old mansion is the family burying ground. A high rock wall surrounds it. There are seven graves but only one has a marker. This is a grey stone, three feet high with the following inscription: Mrs. Agnes Anderson who departed this life July 7, 1832 60 Years of age. (There is a verse at the bottom of the inscription but it is not legible.)
