The Deaths of Alex Campbell and Forest Truslow February 27, 1933 (Headlines) "Two In Hospital After Guns Blaze" Alex Campbell 26, and Forest Truslow, 23, are patients at University Hospital following an argument at Greenfield Saturday night. During the course of the difference between the men, Campbell was shot in the chest and Truslow in the abdomen with a .32" pistol. Both men are said to be in a serious condition at the hospital this morning, where they were admitted at about 3:30 A. M. Sunday and operated upon almost at once. --------------------------- March 1, 1933 (Headlines) "NELSON OFFICERS TAKE NO ACTION, One of Pair Injured In Gun Battle Dead; Other Is Patient" At noon today no action had been taken by Nelson County authorities in the death of Forrest Truslow, which occurred yesterday at 10 o'clock in University Hospital. He had been wounded on Saturday night near Greenfield allegedly by Alex Campbell who is now a patient at the hospital recovering from wounds in the abdomen said to have been inflicted by Truslow. It is known here that Nelson County authorities called here yesterday to take back to that place a Negro man named Walter Williams wanted on a bad check charge but as far as can be learned, no visit was made to the hospital. A Waynesboro undertaker, George S. Etter, called yesterday at 5:40 P. M. for the body of Truslow and it was said to had been sent by the father of the dead man, whose age was 23. Truslow was the son of Austin Truslow and Lilly Bowling Truslow. His death came after infection arising from wounds in the right chest and lung, the heart and intestinal region. His funeral will be held in Greenfield tomorrow at 3:30. ---------------------------- March 2, 1933 (Headlines) "Still No Action In Truslow Death" At 1 o'clock today no action had yet been taken in the alleged murder of Forrest Truslow, who will be buried this afternoon at Greenfield, Nelson County, as a result of a gun battle with Alex Campbell there Saturday. Campbell is a patient at University Hospital with five bullet bounds, there lodged in his body. Although, Nelson County officers have been in Charlottesville since the shooting, they have not visited the hospital. It is said his discharge is not expected for some days. Truslow's body was removed from University Hospital Tuesday afternoon by a Waynesboro undertaker.
