Deed - Thomas J. Anderson Source: Nelson Co., VA Deed Book 17, Page 90 Articles of agreement made and entered into this 13th day of November, 1857, between Mrs. Mary Thomas of the one part and Thomas J. Anderson of the other part, and both of Nelson County and State of Virginia. Witness that whereas the said Thomas J. Anderson is justly indebted to Elisha J. Thurmond in the sum of seventy two dollars and 55 cents due by bond bearing date 18th December 1867 and whereas the said Mary Thomas and Thomas J. Anderson are both occupying the same house and premises on Rockfish River lately sold by said Thomas J. Anderson to the said Mary Thomas and the said Mary Thomas being desirous to secure the undivided and undisturbed possession of the said house and premises. Now this agreement witnessth that the said Mary Thomas hereby agrees to assume for the said Thomas J. Anderson the payment of the said debt to Elisha G. Thurmond and to secure the payment of the same by executing a deed of trust upon the said house and lot to said Thurmond said Thomas J. Anderson on his part hereby agrees for and inconsideration of the said assumption of his debts to E. G. Thurmond by the said Mary Thomas to surrender from this date to the said Mary Thomas, her heirs and assignes that quiet and undisturbed possession of the said lot of land on which they now live and its appurtenances and to regard it no longer his home to set up no claim to or right of occupancy therein from any deed to his children thereto from the said Mary Thomas. For the faithful compliance with the above obligation each part binds him or herself to the other in the penalty of one hundred dollars.
