Anderson, 1855 Source: Nelson County Deed Book 14, pages 581 & 58 Contributor: Debra Miller ----------------------------------------------------- This indenture made this 29th day of March in the year eighteen hundred and fifty-five between Thomas J. Anderson and Sallie, his wife of the one part and Mary Thomas of the other part, witness that the said Thomas J. Anderson and Sallie his wife for an in consideration of the sum of thirty dollars good and lawful money of the state of Virginia due them in hand paid by the said Mary Thomas at or before the sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge by these presents, have granted, bargained and sold, released and confirmed unto the said Mary Thomas, her heirs and assignees forever, a certain lot, piece or parcel of land lying and being in Nelson County, Virginia, containing six acres, bounded as follows: on the south by the Howardsville and Rockfish Turnpike extending the entire length of the said Anderson line on said turnpike, on the west by John Johnson's, on the east by T. P. Harris, and on the north by Benjamin F. Norvell, taking such course and distance as to make the six acres beginning equal distance from the turnpike on each end to leave and to hold the said land, lot and parcel of land unto the said Mary Thomas, her heirs and assignees forever, the said Anderson and wife for themselves and their heirs doth hereby convenant and agree to and wish the said Mary Thomas and her heirs to warrant and forever defend a good fee simple title to the said tract of land and its appertances against the claims of themselves and their heirs and agains the claims of all and every other person or persons whatsoever. Anderson, who names are assigned to the within writing bearing date this 29th day of March 1855 personally appeared before us and being examined by us privately and apart from her husband and having the writing aforesaid fully explained to her. She, the said Sarah Jane Anderson, acknow- ledged the said writing to be her act and declares that she had willingly executed the same and does not wish to retract it.
