DEED: Nathaniel Bridgwater, 1830 SOURCE: Deed Book 7, Pages 74-75, Nelson Co., VA CONTRIBUTOR: Vern Paul --------------------------------------------------------- This Indenture, made and entered into this fifth day of June 1830, Between Nathl. Bridgwater and Rebecca his wife, formerly Rebecca Clarke, one of the children and heirs of Nathl. Clarke decd, and Polly Bridgwater, Saml. B. Bridgwater, Rebecca Bridgwater, Jonathan Bridgwater, Nathl. Bridgwater Jr, and Nicholas Harlow and Janetta his wife formerly Janetta Bridgwater; all of whom are children & heirs of Martha Bridgwater decd. who was also one of the children and heirs of Nathl. Clarke decd. of the one part, and Thomas Goodwin of the other and last part, all of the County of Nelson:WW witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of One hundred and forty dollars to them in hand paid, by the said Thomas Goodwin, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, they the parties of the first part have granted, bargained and sold, aliened, enfeoffed and confirmed, and by the presents, do grant, bargain and sell, alien, enfeoff and confirm unto the said Thomas Goodwin, his heirs, &c forever in actual fee simple, two eights of a certain tract, or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Nelson formerly of the County of Amherst, on the south side of the fork mountain, on the branches of the South fork of Tye River, containing three hundred sixty five acres, as will appear together with the metes and boundaries by reference to a patent which issued to the said Nathaniel Clarke, on the 25th. day of March 1796. To have and to hold the said two eighths of said tract or parcel of land free from the claim of all persons whomsoever. And the said parties of the first part do fully covenant to and with the said Thomas Goodwin that they will forever warrant and defend unto the said Thomas Goodwin his heirs and assigns a good and sufficient right and title to the land hereby conveyed in actual fee simple forever, free from the claims of all persons whomsoever. In testimony whereof the said parties of the first part, to wit, the said Nathl. Bridgwater and Rebecca his wife, and Polly Bridgwater, Saml. B. Bridgwater, Rebecca Bridgwater, Jonathan Bridgwater, Nathl.
