DEED: John F. Camden and Sally his wife Deed of Trust, 1848 SOURCE: Nelson County Deed Book 12, Page 459 CONTRIBUTOR: Sylvia Ray ------------------------------------------------------------ This Indenture made and entered into this 7th day of October 1848 between John F. Camden and Sally his wife of the County of Nelson and State of Virginia of the one part, and William Wright of the County of Amherst and said State of the other part, witnesseth that the said John F. Camden and Sally his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of twenty hundred and eighty dollars to them in hand by the said William Wright before the ensealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, hath bargained, sold and delivered and do by these presents bargain, sell and deliver to him the said William Wright, his heirs and assigns, one certain tract or parcel of land containing by estimation 104 acres, be the same more or less, lying or being in the County of Amherst and on the waters of Piney River. It being that portion, or tract of land that the said John F. Camden bought of the said William Wright and Rachel S. his wife, on the 20th day of March 1845; which will appear by reference to the record of the Clerk's Office of the County Court of Amherst which deed was produced in open court, together with the certificates annexed of acknowledgment thereof by the said William Wright and the privy examination and acknowledgment of Rachel S. Wright parties thereto, before two Justices of the Peace of the County of Amherst and ordered to be recorded at a court held for said County on the 20th day of March 1848, which tract or parcel of land with all its appurtenances, viz, the said John F. Camden and Sally his wife for themselves, their heirs, executors and administrators have bargained, sold, aliened, enfeoffed, and confirmed to him the said William Wright his heirs or assigns. To have and to hold the same free from the last hindrance or molestation of all and every person or persons whomsoever, and the said John F. Camden and Sally his wife will for themselves, their heirs, executors and administrators warrant and forever defend the same. In witness the said John F. Camden and Sally his wife have set their hands and seals the day and year first written. Signed, sealed, and delivered John F. Camden {seal} in the presence of: Sally Camden {seal} Nelson County, to wit: We, James F. Penn and Littleberry N. Ligon, Justices of the Peace for the County aforesaid in the State of Virginia, do hereby certify that John F. Camden and Sally his wife, parties to the annexed deed bearing date 7th day of October 1848, personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be their act and deed and desired us to certify the said acknowledgment to the Clerk of the County Court of Nelson so that the said deed may be therein recorded.
