DEED OF TRUST: Oliver P. Camden, 1866 SOURCE: Nelson Co., VA Deed Book 16, Page 383 CONTRIBUTOR: Sylvia Ray ------------------------------------------------------------ This deed made this fourteenth day of April in the year 1866 between Oliver P. Camden of Nelson County, Virginia of the one part and William S. Dillard of said County of the other part, witnesseth that the said Oliver P. Camden doth grant unto the said William S. Dillard the following property to wit: one bay horse, six head of hogs, all the interest both at law and in equity of the said O. P. Camden in the undistributed personal estate of his mother Jane Camden late of Nelson County, deceased, and all the share and interest, right and title of the said O. P. Camden both at law and in equity in and to a tract of land situated on the head waters of Castle Creek in the County of Nelson containing twenty six acres, more or less, belonging to the heirs of William W. Camden late of Nelson County, deceased, and of which he did seize, and adjoining the lands of William S. Dickie and John Campbell and being the tract of land on which John Allen now resides. In trust to secure to Stephen T. Dillard of the County aforesaid the payment of the sum of a certain bond executed by the said Oliver P. Camden bearing date on the 14th day of April 1866 and being for the payment of eighty four dollars and 80 cents on the 14th day of April 1867 and it is covenanted and agreed between the parties aforesaid that in case of a sale the same shall be made after twenty days notice of the time and place and terms thereof, and upon the following terms to wit: For cash sale so much of the proceeds as may be necessary to defray the expense of executing this trust, the fees for recording this deed, and the State and US taxes upon the same and to discharge the amount of money, principal and interest then payable upon the said bond and if there be any residue of said purchase money, the same shall be made payable at such time and be secured in such manner as the said O. P. Camden, his executors, administrators, or assigns shall direct or in case of his or their failure to give such direction at such time and in such manner as the said William S. Dillard shall think fit. The said Oliver P. Camden covenants to pay all taxes, assessments, dues and charges upon the property hereby conveyed so long as he or his heirs or assigns shall hold the same. The words "of the said Camden" were underlined before signing and sealing hereof. Witness the following signatures and seals. Signed, sealed and delivered Oliver P.
