This indenture made and entered into this 12th day of October 
1844 between Washington Campbell and Mary his wife of the county 
of Nelson and state of Virginia of the one part and Charles 
Wright of the said county and state of the other part witnessed: 
That the said Washington Campbell and Mary his wife for and in 
consideration of the sum of one hundred and eighty dollars to 
them in hand paid by the said Charles Wright before ensealing 
and delivering of these present the receipt of which is hereby 
acknowledged have bargained, sold and delivered and do by these 
present bargain sell and deliver to him the said Charles Wright 
his heirs and assignors forever a certain tract or parcel of 
land lying and being in the county of Nelson but in the county 
of Amherst when the patent was granted which tract of land the 
said Washington Campbell bought of John Campbell Dec'd and  
Francis his wife which will fully appear by reference to a deed 
made by them and duly recorded in the clerks office of the county 
of Nelson dated 20th day of March 1837, situated on the south 
side of Shoe Creek and adjoining the same which is a branch of 
Piney River containing by estimation of 68 acres be the same more 
or less Beginning at a chestnut on the bank of said creek........
