This Indenture made this first day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twentytwo between Woodson P Clarke, Nathaniel Bridgwater and Rebecca his wife, William Henderson, James Newell and Betsey his wife Parsons Clarke, Nathaniel Clarke and Obediah Johnson & Judith his wife of the one part and Reuben Coffey of the County of Nelson of the other part Witnessith that for and in consideration of Six thousand pounds of nett inspected Tobacco by the said Reuben Coffey in hand paid the receipt whereof they hereby acknowledge they the said Woodson P Clarke, Nathaniel Bridgwater & Rebecca his wife, William Henderson J L Newell & Betsey his wife, Parsons Clarke, Nathl Clarke and Obedh Johnson & Judith his wife all heirs of Nathl Clarke, decd. hath granted bargained & sold aliened enfeoffed and confirmed unto the said Reuben Coffey, his heirs and assigns one certain tract of land containing two hundred & thirty five ____ by resurvey lying and being in Nelson County on the north side of fork mountain and bounded as follows to wit beginning at pointers on the south side of the north fork of Tye river, running thence S45 E110 po. Pointers corner to Edmd Coffey decd entry the same course continued on his line 104 po. to falling ponters thence with Dozwells entry S39. W.122 po to a Locust N 68. W. 159 to falling Chestnut corner, to Dozwells entry the same course continued 16 po to a Mahogany N 86. W. 26 po. to pointers N 20 W 126 po to pointers on the back of the north fork of the Tye river, thence down the same as it meanders 182 po. to the first stidure [sic?]. To have and to hold the same with the appurtenances unto the said Reuben Coffey his heirs and assigns forever and the said Woodson P Clarke Nathl Bridgwater & Rebecca his wife Wm Henderson, Jas Newell & Betsey his wife Parsons Clarke, Nathl Clarke and Obed. Johnson & Judith his wife for themselves and their heirs doth covenant and grant to and with the sd. Reuben Coffey his heirs and assigns that they the said Woodson P. Clarke Nathl Bridgwater Rebecca his wife Wm Henderson Jas. Newell & Betsey his wife Parsons Clarke Nathl Clarke and obd. Johnson & Judith his wife their heirs the sd Tract of land with the appurtenances unto the said Reuben Coffey his heirs and assigns against them the said W. P. Betsey Newell and Judith Johnson acknowledged the same to be their acts and deeds and declared that they had willingly signed sealed and delivered the same & that they did not wish to retract it.
