DEED: James M. Hight Deed of Trust, 1858 SOURCE: Nelson County Deed Book 15, Page 214 CONTRIBUTOR: Sylvia Ray ------------------------------------------------------------ This Deed made this 8th day of February 1858 between James M. Hight and Geals, his wife, of the County of Nelson of the first part, and Hugh S. Brent of said County of the second part, witnesseth: That the said James M. Hight and Geals his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars to them in hand paid by the said Hugh S. Brent, at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt of which is here fully acknowledged have bargained, sold, and confirmed unto him the said Hugh S. Brent their interest consisting of one eighth part of the dower land belonging to the Widow Polly Wills which he, the said James M. Hight is entitled to by his marriage with Geals Wills, to have and to hold the same interest to him the said Hugh S. Brent, his heirs and assigns forever, and the said James M. Hight and Geals, his wife, do for themselves, their heirs and assigns, warrant and forever defend, a good and sufficient title to him the said Hugh S. Brent, free from the claims of them the said James M. Hight and Geals, his wife, and from the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever. Patterson and Peter C. Coffey, Justices of the Peace in and for the County aforesaid, do hereby certify that Geals D. Hight, the wife of James M. Hight, a party to the foregoing deed hereto annexed bearing date on the 8th day of February 1858, personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid, and being examined by us separately and apart from her said husband and having the deed aforesaid fully explained to her, acknowledged the same to be her act and deed and that she did not wish to retract it, and at the same time personally appeared before us, James M.
