DEED: Nicholas Mays to A. H. Taliaferro, 1855 SOURCE: Nelson County Deed Book 14, Page 429 CONTRIBUTOR: Sylvia Ray ------------------------------------------------------------ This Deed made this 24th day of October 1855 between Nicholas Mays, a Commissioner acting under and by the authority of a decree of Nelson County Court, made at its October term 1855, in a cause therein pending of Nicholas Mays, Guardian of George W. Mays of the first part, and Arthur H. Taliaferro of the second part, witnesseth that the said Nicholas Mays, Commissioner as aforesaid, in consideration of the sum of twelve hundred dollars, of $1100.00 paid in cash and the said Taliaferro executes his bond for the residue, payable on the sixth of January 1856, doth grant unto the said Arthur H. Taliaferro, a certain tract or parcel of land in the County of Nelson, containing two hundred and fourteen acres, adjoining the lands of William Camp deceased, James Wills and John Crews, it being the same land formerly owned by Margaret Mays and by her last Will and Testament devised to Susan Jordan, who was the wife of said Mays and is now deceased, which will is of record in the Clerk's Office of Nelson County Court which land the said Nicholas Mays is directed by said decree to convey to the said Arthur H. Taliaferro, and the said Nicholas Mays doth convey the said land to the said Arthur H. Taliaferro with special warranty, witness the following signatures and seals.
