DEED: George Monroe, 1846 SOURCE: Nelson Co., VA Deed Book 12, Page 214 CONTRIBUTOR: Bob McKinney ------------------------------------------------------------- This indenture entered into this first day of December 1846 between William Massie of Nelson County Virginia of the first part & George Monroe of said county on the second part. That the said William Massie for consideration of the sum of Seventy Two Dollars 37 1/2 cents to him in hand paid by the said George Monroe before ensealing & delivering of these present the rest of which is hereby acknowledged hath granted, bargained, & sold allowed enabled, released and confirmed, & by these present doth grant bargain and sell, allow, enable, release & confirm unto the said George Monroe & his heirs forever in fee simple the following parcel of land lying in the county of Nelson on SILVER CREEK a tributary of TYE river adjoining the lands of said George Monroe & the said William Massie the same being a part of a larger tract bought by the said William Massie of Richard J. Ellis containing by estimation twenty four acres and twenty poles. by the same more of less and bounded as follows... viz. Beginning at Chestnut ----?--- ___?____ corner of the said William Massie i.e. & Nicholas ? Conge sweeen ??? & running thus North 5 W. 37 1/2 poles to pointers in said Massie's line. N 60 E 88 poles to a dead Hickory pointers at a fence. N 23 1/2 E 40 poles to a Popular Stump among pointers. N 88 E 44 poles to a chestnut Oak. N 62 1/2 E 23 1/2 poles to a popular. S 40 E 20 poles to a Gum Stump among pointers. S 30 e 8 1/2 poles to a Chestnut Oak. S 78 2/3 W 63 poles to a Popular. N 82, W 28 poles to a Fallen Popular & pointers. S 14 W 83 poles to a stake in said George Monroe's line N 72 W 55 poles to pointers on Joplins S 20 W 50 poles to the beginning. Together with all the apportiantaices there unto in any wise belonging to have and to hold the tract of land aforesaid with the apportiances to the only proper use & _____?_____ off him the said George Monroe & his heirs forever in fee simple and the said William Massie for himself his heirs executors ____?____ doth hereby convent & agree to with the said George Monroe & his heirs that he will _____?____ & forever ___?___- the tract of land aforesaid with the apportiantces unto him the said George Monroe & his heirs forever in fee simple ..................
