Deed: Steel Source: Nelson County VA Deed Bk 16, Pg 312 Contributor: Shirley Houk This Indenture made and entered into this 28th day of July 1864 between Alexander Fitzpatrick a commissioner appointed by the county court of Nelson in a suit in said court pending herein Nathaniel Bowles is plaintiff and Johnson Thacker and others are defendants. Witnesseth that the said Fitzpatrick in virtue of the powers conferred upon him by the said court in the said suit doth by these presents sell and convey to David Steel the tract of land in the bill and proceedings mentioned and known as the Coffey tract containing one hundred and one and a half acres, and is on the waters of Tye River in the county of Nelson with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging to have and to hold the same free from the claim or demand of any or all of the heirs or representatives of Samuel Gay deceased and free from the claim or demand of them or their heirs forever to the only proper use and behoof of the said David Steel and his heirs or assigns forever: in witnesseth whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this day and date first above written.
