Deed: Henry Turner, Lucy Cheatham, Terisha Turner. Source: Nelson County Deed Book 2, part 2, page 337 Contributor: Debra Miller ------------------------------------------------- This Indenture made the 5th day of August 1815 between Lucy Cheatham of the one part and Henry Turner of the other part witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar paid to the said Lucy Cheatham by the said Henry Turner the said Lucy Cheatham hath given, granted and bargained and sold to the said Henry Turner all her rights, title and interest in the estate of Josiah Cheatham dec'd which she may be entitled to as widow of the said Josiah, and also all which she may be entitled by purchase or otherwise, and also all the property which she at present owns or possesses and also all her crop of every description whatever. To have and to hold the same to the said Henry Turner and his heirs forever. In use and Trust for Terisha Turner, his heir & forever. And it is understood between the aforesaid parties, that whereas the said Terisha Turner hath this day become bound as security for the said Lucy Cheatham to Robert Rivers & Co. in two Bonds of Twenty one pounds and thirteen shillings and two pence each to carry interest from the 26th day of June 1815 the first payable on the 1st Oct. 1815 and the other payable on the 1st Oct. 1816 that in case said Terisha Turner shall in consequence of being Security as aforesaid, pay all or any part of the said two bonds, that it shall immediately after such payment of all or any part as aforesaid be lawfull for the said Henry Turner to proceed to sell all the aforesaid property and interest for cash after having given notice of the time & plance of such sale, by advertising the same 10 days at the door of the Courthouse of Nelson County and out of the proceeds of such sale, 1st pay the costs of recording this deed and carrying it into execution and then to pay the amount of such (unreadable) with interest as shall be paid by the said Terisha Turner as Security as aforesaid and the surplus returned to the said Lucy Cheatham and her heirs.
