DEED of Bargain and Sale: Jesse Wright TO James Campbell, 1838 SOURCE: Nelson County Deed Book 9, Page 162 CONTRIBUTOR: Sylvia Ray --------------------------------------------------------------------- This Indenture made this 19th day of November one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight between Jesse Wright, son to Benjamin Wright, of the one part, and James Campbell, son to John Campbell, and of the County of Amherst of the other part, witnesseth that the said Jesse Wright for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and ten dollars to him in hand paid by the said James Campbell before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, have bargained, sold and delivered, and do by these presents, bargain, sell, and deliver to him the said James Campbell all the interest, right to title which he has either in law or equity is that of the real estate belonging to John Campbell, deceased, which has been lately surveyed and allotted to the children of Benjamin Wright by James Miller, George G. Wright and William Bourne, commissioners, the said interest being one undivided eighth part to have and to hold said interest in said land free from the claims or claims of all person or persons whatsoever, and the said Jesse Wright, for himself, his heirs, executors and administrators warrant and forever defend the title to him the said James Campbell, his heirs, executors and administrators warrant and forever defend the title to him, the said Jesse Wright hath set his name and fixed his seal the day and year first written. Signed, sealed and delivered Jesse Wright {seal} in the presence of: At a Court held for Amherst County on the 19th day of November 1838. This deed was acknowledged in open Court by Jesse Wright, a party thereto, and admitted to record. Teste: Samuel M. Garland, Clerk At a Court held for Nelson County the 27th day of July 1840. This deed from Jesse Wright to James Campbell having been duly certified from the County Court of Amherst County to have been there recorded, on the motion of the said James Campbell, the same is ordered to be recorded in this Court.
