DEED: William Wright Deed of Trust, 1860 SOURCE: Nelson County Deed Book 15, Page 583 CONTRIBUTOR: Sylvia Ray ------------------------------------------------------------ This Deed made and entered into this 19th day of July 1860 between William Wright and Rachel S. Wright of the one part, of the County of Amherst and State of Virginia and Shelton Wright of the County of Nelson of the other part, witnesseth, for and in consideration of the sum of seventy dollars lawful money of Virginia to us in hands paid by the said Shelton Wright, We do sell, bargain, and enfeoff, release and confirm unto the said Shelton Wright, a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Nelson containing by estimate or Patent, fifty six acres, be the same more or less, it being the tract of land the said William Wright bought in the year 1827 of Alexander Gillaspie lying on the North Branch of Piney River and south end of Priest Mountain and bounded as follows, to wit: Beginning at a large chestnut oak on point of a ridge corner to James W. Campbell and James Ramsey deceased, and thence with said Campbell's line up said ridge N 8 poles to pointers in said Campbell's line, thence new lines N 28 degrees E 38 poles to pointers, N 63 degrees E crossing a ridge, 43 poles to a small hickory on a large rock amongst pointers, S 12 degrees E 136 poles to a chestnut amongst pointers in a line of James Ramsey and thence with said Ramsey's line N 20 degrees W 30 crossing a branch 26 poles to a locust and thence S 86 degrees 30 ft. West 60 poles to the beginning. The tract or parcel of land the said William Wright and Rachel S. Wright (his wife) do bargain, sell, enfeoff, and release to the said Shelton Wright the said tract of land free from the claim or claims of all persons whomsoever. Gannaway, a Justice of the Peace for the County aforesaid, Wm Wright and acknowledged the foregoing deed to be his act and deed. Given under my hand and seal this 19th day of July 1860. Jas M. Gannaway, Justices of the Peace for the County aforesaid, and being examined by us separately apart from her husband and acknowledged the same to be her act and deed and wish not to retract the same.
