FRANCIS CAMPBELL - 382 Acres - Amherst County - Examined Robert Brook Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia; To all to whom these presents shall come Greeting, Know ye, that in consideration of the Ancient composition of Two pounds Sterling paid by Francis Campbell into the Treasury of this Commonwealth, there is granted by the said Commonwealth unto the said Francis Campbell, A certain tract or parcel of landing containing three hundred and eighty-two acres, by Survey bearing date the Nineteenth Day of September One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty-eight, lying and being in the County of Amherst, on Elk Creek of Tye River, and is bounded as followeth to wit: Beginning at a Chestnut in his own line, and running thence new lines, NORTH 9 degrees EAST 119 poles to pointers, NORTH 27 degrees WEST 112 poles to a Hickory on the top of the Mountain, thence along the top, SOUTH 58 WEST 119 poles to pointers, SOUTH 22 degrees WEST 72 poles to pointers, SOUTH 23 degrees WEST 47 poles to pointers SOUTH 5 degrees WEST 40 poles to pointers, thence leaving the top of the Mountain NORTH 61 degrees EAST 79 poles to pointers, SOUTH 49 degrees EAST 33 poles to a Gum. NORTH 74 degrees EAST 40 poles to a Chestnut Oak, SOUTH 11 degrees EAST 3 poles to a Gum, SOUTH 50 1/2 degrees WEST 47 poles to a Spanish Oak, NORTH 60 degrees WEST 68 poles to a Chestnut. SOUTH 77 degrees WEST 98 poles to pointers on the top of said mountain, thence along the same SOUTH 40 degrees WEST 14 poles to pointers.
