Obituary: Alonzo Allen, Age 76, born Oct. 24, 1915, died Mar. 14, 1992 Source: Unknown newspaper Contributor: Dennis Truslow -------------------------------------------------------------- CHARLOTTESVILLE - Alonzo "Johnie" Allen, 76, of Route 2, Box 640, Afton died Saturday (March 14, 1992) in University of Virginia Medical Center after a long illness. He was born Oct. 24, 1915, in Nelson County, a son of the late Frank L. and Willie Hatter Allen. He attended Fellowship Pentecostal Holiness Church. On July 19, 1938, he married the former Daisy Truslow, who survives. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Aubrey, Sidney and Saylor. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, L.C. (Leslie Clifton) Allen at home, and Wayne C. Allen of Nellysford; two daughters, Mrs. Ronnie (Jane) Scott of Nellysford and Mrs. Kenneth (Janice) Mawyer of Waynesboro; two sisters, Maggie Zimmerer of Petersburg, W. Va., and Nell Pearce of Greenfield; 11 grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. A service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Fellowship Pentecostal Church by the Revs. Edmund R. Southers and Claude Floyd with burial in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Active pallbearers will be Frankie Neese, Robert Morris, Wilson Bryant, Mike Garth, Bo Trimble and Larry Moyer. Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses of 3 Central University of Virginia Medical Center, Dr. Nicholette Erickson and friends attending the service. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today in the Waynesboro chapel of Etter Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
