Obituary: Ruth (Sites) Allen, 2003 Source: The Daily Progress, June 7, 2003 Contributor: Dennis Truslow, aquaair@erols.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ruth Goldie Sites Allen, 80, of Colleen Community, Arrington, died Friday morning, June 6, 2003, at the Uva Medical Center. Born April 30, 1923, in Nelson County, she was the daughter of the late Granville Sites and Lucy DeMasters Sites. She was the widow of Ralph Talton Allen whom died on June 10, 2000, after a marriage of 56 years. She also was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters. Goldie as most called her, was a retired self employed Merchant, a homemaker and a member of Woodland Baptist Church at Colleen. She is survived by her daughters, Karen A. Murad and her husband, Greg, of Arrington, Shelvia H. Hall and her husband, James, of South Boston and Sharon A. Manley and her husband, Paul, of Lynchburg; six grandchildren, five step- grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a devoted sister-in-law, Dallas Allen of Ivy; and a special niece, Helen Ankley; along with several other nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Woodland Baptist Church with the Rev. David Blevins officiating with interment in Woodland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and suggest that memorials take form of contributions to Roseland Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 39, Roseland, Va. 22957 or to Woodland Baptist Church, 4434 Thomas Nelson Hwy. Arrington, Va. 22922.
