Allen Lewis P. Allen, 96 of Scottesville, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001. He was born Jan. 21, 1905, in Nelson County, son of the late John Hamilton (Ham) Allen and Lula Belle Puckett Allen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Alma E. Maupin Allen; a son Lewis Edward Allen; three brothers, Renneth Lawrence and Haywood Allen; and one sister, Florine Woody. Survivors include two daughters, Marveline Dorrier and her husband , Earl, of Scottesville, and Dorothy Ball and her husband, Jack, of Waynesboro; two sisters, Virgie Simpson of Schuyler, and Lola Combs of Chesapeake; and nine grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Mr Allen was a lifetime active member of Schuyler Baptist Church, where he served in many capacities; and the Rockfish Masonic Lodge, No. 108, AF&AM for more than 70 years. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Thacker Brothers Funeral Home in Scottesville, with the Rev. Thomas B. Fowler officiating. Interment will follow in Rock Spring United Methodist Church Cemetery in Faber. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8.30 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.
