Obituary: Robert H. Arey Jr., 2003 Source: The Daily Progress, August 26, 2003 Contributor: Dennis Truslow, aquaair@erols.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Robert Henry "Bob" Arey Jr., 60, of Dillwyn, Va., died Wednesday, August 20, 2003, in Albemarle County. He was born December 26, 1942, in Waynesboro, a son of Robert Henry and Gladys Tomes Arey. He was a graduate of VSDB School of Staunton, where he played varsity football. For over 30 years he was self-employed as a carpenter and cabinet maker. He loved the outdoors and was a member of the NRA and Virginia Bass Fishermen. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his special aunt and uncle, Virginia and George Fischer, and two brothers, Grover W. Arey and Charles Christopher Arey. Surviving are his wife, Theresa Firebaugh Arey; his stepmother, Bessie Arey; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Wayne and Robin Arey, Wesley and Lisa Arey, and Austin Arey; four sisters, Maudie A. Lipes and husband James, Shirley A. Craig, Pat Via, and Joanne McMillan; five brothers; Jeffrey R. Arey and wife Christy, L. Gene Arey and wife Linda, Thomas A. Arey Sr. and wife Jean, Joseph M. McMillan, and John W. McMillan; seven grandchildren, Wesley Arey Jr., Lesha Arey, Dakota Arey, Sa'Jon Arey, River Arey, and Willow Arey; and numerous nieces and nephews. A service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 28, 2003, at McDow Funeral Home by Pastor L. Gene Arey. Interment will follow in Augusta Memorial Park, Waynesboro. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2003, at McDow Funeral Home. Donations may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses, c/o Mr. Wayne Arey; 525 S.
