NELSON COUNTY, VA - OBITUARIES - Annie (Farrar) Snell Brandt, 3 Jan 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Source: The Daily Progress, Tuesday, January 06, 2004 Annie Farrar Snell Brandt, 77, of 604 Afton Mountain Road, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2004, at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville. She was born May 11, 1926, in Afton the daughter of the late Willie W. and Grace Wood Farrar. She was a member of Rodes United Methodist Church. Annie enjoyed camping, fishing, the outdoors, and was an avid gardener. She enjoyed hand quilting and her church work. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Calvin Hubbard Snell in 1975 and her second husband Ralph Leon Brandt, Sr., one brother and one brother-in-law. Survivors include a son, Michael Calvin Snell "Cherokee" of Afton with whom she was living; one daughter, Patsy Snell Floyd and her husband Sammy of Afton; one brother, Wesley "Rat" Farrar of Stuarts Draft; three sisters, Willie Pugh of Lyndhurst, Virginia Pugh and Alene Davis both of Afton; one sister-in-law Gladys Altice of Tano, VA; grandchildren, Jason Wayne Floyd and his wife Lindsey of Afton, Kristin Anne Floyd of Charlottesville; a very special great grandchild, Naomi Elizabeth Floyd; and one very special friend, Dotty Faris of Tailors Creek. A funeral service will be held 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2003, at Rodes United Methodist Church by Rev. Richard McDowell with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Bobby Faris, David Garwood, Jimmy Garwood, Mark Garwood, Buddy Dulaney, and Kenneth Lee. Honorary pallbearers will the Ladies Bible Class of Rodes United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 p.m., at Rodes United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Rockfish Valley Rescue Squad, 503 Crawfords View Road, 11000 Rockfish Valley Hwy, Afton Va. 22920 or to the Rodes United Methodist Church Organ Fund, 8472 Rockfish Valley Highway, Afton Va. 22920.
