  MONTEBELLO -- Melvin Zirkle Bryant, 82, died July 28, 1990 in King's 
Daughters' Hospital.
  He was born in Nelson County Feb. 3, 1908, a son of the late Frank 
and Anne (Ramsey) Bryant.  He was a member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church.
  He is survived by his wife, Lois Bradley Bryant, five sons, Edgar 
Bryant and Bobby Bryant, both of Fairfield, Windell Bryant, Milton 
Bryant and Gorman Bryant, all of Montebello; three daughters, Frances 
Rowe of Stuarts Draft, Betty Roberts of Montebello and Phyllis Myrtle 
of Raphine; four brothers, Walton Bryant of Stuarts Draft, Fishburne 
Bryant and Russell Bryant, both of Greenville and Dave Bryant of 
Montebello; one sister, Irene Snead of Greenville, 16 grandchildren and 
three great-grandchildren.
  He was preceded in death by a son, Glenwood Bryant, a daughter, 
Christine Bryant and two grandchildren.
  A funeral service will be con. ducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 31st, in 
Mt. Paran Baptist Church by the Rev. Jim Simmons with burial in Mt. 
Paran Cemetery.
  The body will be place in the church for viewing one hour prior to 
the funeral service.
  The family will receive friends at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home, Roseland, 
from 7 to 9 tonight.
  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the 
Montebello Fire and Rescue Squad.
