Obituary: Mary Lucille Bryant, 2003 Source: The Daily Progress, January 12, 2003 Contributor: Dennis Truslow, aquaair@erols.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Mary Lucille Bryant, 77, of Arrington, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at the Lynchburg Hospital. Lucille, as most knew her, was born June 30, 1925, in Nelson County, a daughter of the late Samuel B. Bryant and Lola Catherine Wood Bryant. Lucille was a former employee of the American Cyanamid Plant at Piney River, with more than 25 years of service, and later retired from the Nelson County Health Department with more than 18 years of service. She was well known throughout Nelson County as a caring and dedicated home healthcare provider and was, likewise, a dedicated caregiver to her sisters, Alma and Georgia. She was a lifelong, dedicated and devoted member of St. Stephens Baptist Church at Tye River, and served the church and its congregational in many ways. She is survived by her sisters, Birdie Alma Bryant and Georgia V. Bryant, both of Tye River, and Madeline B. Staples of Amherst; six nieces, Betty, Barbara Ann, Sandra, Keren, Mary Lee and Wilma Lee; seven nephews, Russell, Bobby, Billy, Jerry, Jimmy, Morris Lee, Johnny and Roy Jr.; and several great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Nannie B. Proffitt, and six brothers, Clarence, Roy, Theodore, Cecil, Russell and Ernest Bryant. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Bryant Family Cemetery at Tye River, with the Rev. Jake Stewart officiating. Lucille's remains will rest after 4 p.m. today in the Sanctuary of St. Stephens Baptist Church, at which time the family will receive friend until 6 p.m. A brief service will be held at 6 p.m. this evening in the church following the visitation. The family suggests that memorials take the form of donations to the Roseland Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 39, Roseland, Va., 22967, or St. Stephens Baptist Church, 411, Falling Rock Dr., Amherst, Va. 22975.
