Obituary: Barbara Helen Burnley, 2003 Source: The Daily Progress, March 14, 2003 Contributor: Dennis Truslow ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Barbara Helen Burnley, 64, of Shipman, (Nelson County), died Thursday, March 13, 2003, at her residence. Born June 4, 1938, in Washington, D.C., she was a daughter of the late John F. Weber and Marie Schmidt Weber. She was a member of the Catholic faith and along with her husband, operated Burnley's Supermarket in Shipman for over 25 years. Barbara is survived by her husband, Leonard Burnley; one daughter, Debbie L. Proffitt and her husband, Michael of Shipman; four grandchildren, Kristy, Michael Jr., Shayna and Matthew; five sisters, Marguerite Spigler, Dorothy Saxty, Ruth Gordon, Mary Burke and Theresa Scheidegger; and one brother, John Weber. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Marie Hubscher; and one brother, Alvin Weber. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Sunday, March 16, 2003, at 3 p.m. from St. Mary's catholic Church in Lovingston with Father Daniel Kelly officiating with interment to follow in the Burnley Family Cemetery at Shipman. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and suggest that memorials take the form of contributions to the Hospice of the Piedmont, 1490 Pantops Mountain Place, Suite 200, Charlottesville, Va. 22911.
