Obituary: Caroline Mickens Burns, 2003 Source: The Daily Progress, April 15, 2003 Contributor: Dennis Truslow ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Caroline Mickens Burns, departed this life Friday, April 11, 2003. She was born December 27, 1942, in Arrington, (Nelson County), Va., The daughter of the late Walter Carrington Mickens and the late Gertrude Smith Mickens. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Burns Sr.; son, James Burns Jr.; three sisters, Mary Frances Mickens, Laura Chrisitan, Ann E. Beauford; and two brothers, Walter Carrington Jr., and William "Penny" Mickens. She was a good natured and loving person who spread love to all who came in contact with her. Her strong faith was shown through her love of the Lord and she will be deeply missed. She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn C. Burns of Charlottesville, Va.; two sisters, Gracie Irving of Germantown, Pa., and Shirley Cabell of Capitol Heights Md.; and two brothers, Robert L. Mickens of Washington, D.C., and James Mickens of San Diego, Calif.; one granddaughter, Tamara Hawkins; and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 12 p.m., Thursday, April 17, 2003, at the Chapel of the J.F. Bell Funeral Home with the Rev. R.A. Hailes officiating.
