HAZEL GORDON BYERS
 STUARTS DRAFT, VA
  Hazel Gordon Byers, 88, of 1440 Stuarts Draft Hwy., passed away at her residence 
on Saturday, November 1, 2003.
  Mrs. Byers was born October 8, 1915 in Montebello, Virginia, a daughter of the 
late Lawrence Gordon and Ollie Branson Allen.
  Hazel was a member of the Mt. Paran Baptist Church in Montebello.  She lead a 
quiet and simple life.  She loved helping people.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing, 
and baking. She was especially remembered for her snicker doodles, chocolate 
crinkle cookies, her generosity, and compassion. 
  Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Manley B. Byers in 
1970, one daughter, Betty Jane Byers Cason and one sister, Glenna Belle Wright.
  Survivors include one son; Lawrence M. Byers and his wife Lucille of Stuarts Draft; 
one son-in-law, Tim Cason of Staunton; one sister, Mattie R. Blackwell of Raphine; 
four grandsons; Scott Cason of Staunton, Mickey Cason of Staunton, Jody Byers of 
Verona and Troy Byers of Stuarts Draft; two great-granddaughters, Amber Byers and 
Alisa Byers, and a number of nieces and nephews.
  A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 5 at the Mt. Paran 
Baptist Church Cemetery by the Pastor Don McClure.  Friends and Family wishing to 
attend the graveside service may meet directly at the cemetery.
  The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Stuarts Draft Chapel 
of Reynolds Funeral Service.
