NELSON COUNTY, VA - OBITUARIES - Franklin Walter Cox, 2 May 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Source: The Daily Progress, Tuesday, May 04, 2004 Franklin Walter Cox, 81, of Avon Road, Afton, died Sunday, May 2, 2004, at the home of his daughter, Patricia M. Winegard. He was a former resident of the Davis Creek Community near Lovingston. He was born Jan. 1, 1923, in Lancaster County, Pa., a son of the late Dexter Cox and Mary Jane Hewitt Cox. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Huffman Cox in 1976, and his son, Dexter (Bodie) Cox in 1997. He was a retired Construction Worker and Carpenter and a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church. He is survived by three daughters, Deborah J. Cox of Waynesboro, Patricia M. Winegard of Afton and Paula C. Morris of Lovingston; three sons, Mike Cox of Afton, Douglas Wayne Cox of Lovingston and Dwight David Cox of Waynesboro; two sisters, Pauline Cox of Waynesboro and Jessie Welborn of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; one brother, Bill Cox of Lyndhurst; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.. A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 6, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Carroll Welch and the Rev. John Campbell officiating with Interment in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 8 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and suggest that memorials take the form of contributions to Oak Hill Baptist Church Building Fund and or Cemetery Fund, 248 Davis Creek Ln.
